Streams Community Hub is an emerging arts-centered, youth-focused registered charity. Founded and based in Shelburne, Ontario, it serves the region of North Dufferin County.
Through the provision of seasonal creative arts camps, Streams is on a mission to ignite learning, inspire youth, and enrich the whole community through the arts.
The Strategic Plan Development Journey
Solve.
As they completed their fourth year as an organization, the team at Streams had grown in size and reputation. They had received their first major donation of $100,000 and entered into talks with municipal leadership for access to in-kind land, with the bold, but achievable, vision of moving from rented and borrowed spaces into a purpose-built youth arts hub—one that will be the envy of communities many times the size of Shelburne.
As a black-led arts organization located in a traditionally rural centre, they were looking to position themselves to gain deeper trust and confidence from the community, and to gather input to shape the direction of their continued growth.
Change.
Streams engaged Laridae to develop their first ever strategic plan. Through the project, Laridae consulted a wide range of stakeholders, from youth to artists to partner organizations, to ensure the plan reflected and responded to the needs of those they currently serve—and in the future as they grow.
It was essential that Streams had a strategy that clearly articulated their vision with, and for, the community.
Soar.
The new plan is exciting and bold.
It provides Streams with strategic focus and a clear framework to direct its progress over the next five years, setting the foundation for a visionary and vibrant future.
Well positioned to build on start-up successes, Streams can now nurture a sense of significance, respect, value, and purpose through their championing of arts for children and youth, with the whole Shelburne community as the beneficiaries.
