In the last few months, members of the Laridae team have both presented at and attended conferences. While we’ve traveled across Canada for client work, conferences represent a different kind of professional experience. Whether it’s providing training, giving a speech, or participating as an audience member, we always value the opportunity to meet leaders in a variety of sectors and regions—to teach, learn, exchange ideas, and connect with other mission-driven folks.
Stakeholder Engagement
Stakeholder engagement continues to be a high priority for non-profit and municipal leaders.

Danielle Rocheleau presented on The Power of Engagement at the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE) Trillium Summer Summit in Windsor in July, and to the Ontario Municipal Social Services Association (OMSSA) 2019 Leadership Summit in Thunder Bay in May.

I presented on Engaging Your Communities to arts-sector professionals at the Creative Works Conference in Toronto in May.
Participants at all three events expressed the desire to improve performance on engagement. While they understood the value of bringing stakeholders along with major organizational initiatives—such as planning, branding, and transformational change—they wanted strategies, tools, and techniques to do it better. Thoughtful engagement means making the conversation an ongoing, genuine, and transparent one, yielding stronger relationships.

B Corp

Laridae is a proud B Corporation. Rachel Pott and Valentina Kibedi attended the B Corp Leadership Development Summit (BLD) in Toronto in June, where they had the opportunity to learn from other B Corps at the forefront of “doing well and doing good”. They especially enjoyed the BLD Ontario pitch competition, Leaders of Tomorrow: WE Incubation Hub Program.
Non-Profit Governance & Management
Laridae is frequently called on to provide governance training to non-profit boards.

This fall, Danielle Rocheleau will be presenting on Governing in a Time of Change at the Older Adult Centres’ Association of Ontario (OACAO) Aging Well Conference in Mississauga. Jonathan Bennett will also give a half-day workshop on Strategic Leadership. With recently completed strategic planning, engagement, and research projects for organizations serving older adults, we’re excited to help build governance capacity in the sector.
Conferences offer a chance to learn, grow, and connect in an environment away from regular work routines. What upcoming conferences are you looking forward to? And if you’re looking for speakers and trainers to customize a session for your audience, please get in touch.
