Equip Your Non-Profit Board: Effective Governance Training

Governance training designed for the real world

Strong boards provide clarity, direction, and accountability for an organization. When governance is working well, decisions are more focused, roles are better understood, and the relationship between the board and leadership is stronger.

At the same time, governance is not always straightforward. It involves real people, different perspectives, and complex situations that do not always fit neatly into policies or best practices.

Our governance training is designed to support boards in working through these dynamics. Through practical, facilitated conversations, we help boards build shared understanding, strengthen how they work together, and move forward with greater clarity and confidence.

What does the governance training experience looks like?

Our governance training is designed to be practical, engaging, and tailored to your organization.

Pre-training planning session

We begin with a conversation with board leadership to understand your context, priorities, and goals. This helps us shape a session that reflects what your board needs most.

Live training session(s) with your board

The experience is anchored by a 3-hour live session, delivered virtually or in person. The session is interactive and focused on real scenarios, with space for discussion, reflection, and shared learning.

Depending on your needs, additional sessions or extended formats can be incorporated to deepen learning and support your board over time.

Board self-assessment and follow-up

Following the session, board members complete a self-assessment to reflect on current practices and approaches.

We compile and share the results, then meet with board leadership to review key insights, discuss what they mean in your context, and identify practical next steps.

Many organizations use this as a starting point for ongoing board development and continuous improvement.

What will this governance training help you do?
